Pontoon Trips
Half-Day Fishing and Crabbing
This is a 4-hour trip on the backwaters using light tackle spinning
of fly gear. The Currituck Sound is brackish water, so there is a mix
of fish that can be caught on the half-day excursions. Look for striped
bass, flounder, redfish, speckled trout, largemouth bass, pickerel, catfish,
crappie, and yellow perch. We fish the grass edges, marshes, and can even
slip into the Intercoastal Waterway. There is an 18-foot center console
with tunnel drive to get to the hard to reach areas for smaller groups,
or the pontoon boat for larger families.
Pontoon
Sightseeing Trips
The Currituck Queen is a 25-foot pontoon vessel equipped for fishing,
crabbing, or sightseeing. You can explore Monkey Island, bird watch, go
on a sunset tour, or a combination of any exploration on the Currituck
Sound! The pontoon boat offers shade for those wanting to go along but
enjoy just a little sun, and the comfortable seating makes it a perfect
way to enjoy the serene waters of the Currituck Sound.
Wine Tasting Trips
In conjunction with Moonrise Bay Vineyard, located on Knott's Island,
we will take private parties up the Currituck Sound aboard the Currituck
Queen, a 25-foot pontoon boat, to the vineyards on Knott's Island. Experience
an hour of North Carolina's finest local wines, then cruise back to Corolla,
stopping by Monkey Island for a taste of history and bird watching. These
trips last 4 hours.

Inshore/Offshore Fishing
Backcountry
Light Tackle
The backcountry charter trips fish one of 5 sounds, and also in the ocean.
Go flats fishing, bottom fishing, trolling, sight casting, fly-fishing,
and light tackle spin fishing. The options are numerous. Targeted species
include amberjack, cobia, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, bluefish, striped
bass, redfish, speckled trout, black drum, flounder, and many others.
What you catch depends heavily on weather conditions. This type of fishing
is hands-on, meaning there is no mate to do the work for you. The captain
helps with everything, but you will be involved in the fishing. Backcountry
vessels are center console open boats, and 5 passengers is the maximum,
but 4 is preferable. All bait and tackle are provided, or, if you enjoy
fishing with your favorite rod and reel, bring it along. All you need
to bring is food and drinks. As long as the fish you catch are legal,
they are yours to keep or release.
Trips based on 2 to 5 people. You may choose between
¾ day, ½ day, or full day with the light tackle trips.

The $10.00 convenience fee is non-refundable.
Inshore
Fishing
The inshore charters are for 6 people only. Inshore means inside the
continental shelf, so you can go out in the ocean, but not more than 16
miles out. You may also find yourself around the inlet, or in the sounds.
It always depends on the weather conditions, but more importantly, where
the fish are on any given day. Targeted species include amberjack, cobia,
spadefish, triggerfish, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, bluefish, striped
bass, redfish, speckled and grey trout, black drum, flounder, and numberous
others. On these vessels, there is a mate to take care of all the rigging
and baiting, restrooms, and shelter from the sun.
Choose between ½ day, ¾ day, or full day.

to the blue waters of the Gulf Stream, an offshore trip is waiting for
you! These trips can only go on a full day charter, and the meeting time
at the vessels is 5am. Return time is by 4pm. Targeted species include
billfish such as blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. You will also
find yellow fin tuna, mahi mahi, and wahoo. All of the offshore vessels
have cabins and first mates.

Kayaking Eco Tours
Alligator
River National Wildlife Refuge
The Algonquin Indians identified this habitat as a "pocosin", meaning,
"swamp on a hill". Bald cypress loom overhead, feeding the narrow creeks
with tannins giving the water a mysterious black coloration. The winding
creeks lead to mirror-image lakes where alligators can be seen as they
sun on the slough grass or a protruding cypress stump. This refuge is
home to the world's largest population of red wolves, which we often hear
on our wolf howlings. Last year we also had sighting of river otter, bobcat,
black bear, American bittern, barred owl, and nesting egret and ibis.
This is the most popular and wildest trip.
Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge
There is no inlet here today, but there could well be one tomorrow. New
Inlet closed in the 1930's and opens periodically after major storms.
As we explore the shallows of this wildlife refuge you will learn about
the ever-changing aspects of a migrating island. Known as a birders' paradise,
nearly 400 species of birds have been sighted on this refuge. Due to its
proximity to Oregon Inlet, the waters are extremely clear, making this
an ideal spot for viewing stingrays, mullet, hermit crabs, siphon-feeding
clams and oysters. This trip is the best birders trip.
Maritime
Forest and Marsh
Kitty Hawk Woods offers a unique blend of maritime forest and marsh exploration.
The starting point of our journeys is set among tall pines and twisted
live oaks draped in Spanish moss. As we make our way out to Kitty Hawk
Bay, the shelter of the forest is replaced by giant cord grass fields,
which make music of the prevailing winds. As our kayaks slice through
the calm waters, we search for playful river otter, soaring ospreys and
bald eagles, camouflaged bitterns and herons. The trip is ideal for children.
Bodie Island National Seashore
Bodie (body) Island earned its name from the number of bodies washed
ashore after major storms. It is a series of marsh islands and creeks
where only your guide knows the way. Each turn presents new adventures
as we look for dolphin, black skimmers, white ibis and river otter. This
trip ideal for sunset and full moon trips.
